Jala Design is a website design and development agency based in Norwest, NSW. During my time at Jala I fulfilled the role of Backend Facilitator, leading the company in backend development practices and solutions.

My everyday responsibilities included building custom WordPress themes, integrating sites with WooCommerce (e-commerce), and liaising with clients across a broad range of industries to understand their business requirements and implement solutions that met their needs. I also onboarded externally developed websites, focusing on resolving security and performance issues.

I was fortunate to be involved in upskilling staff members on best development practices, with a particular focus on backend development (PHP). This was achieved through peer code review sessions and reviewing pull requests.

A personal achievement during my time at Jala was creating an internal WordPress plugin for use across all our websites. This plugin implemented strong security standards and configurable feature flagging unique to each environment. I created this plugin with the aim of both minimising clutter in the WordPress dashboard for clients and reducing repetitious development tasks to improve team productivity.
